County Fire Department Bests Police in BBQ Cook Off

PGFD extinguished the competition in Saturday's grill-off.

Wondering which Prince George's County public safety department has the most skills on the grill?

The votes have been tallied and the winner of the 2013 Public Safety BBQ Cook-Off is the Prince George's County Fire Department.

The panel of judges handed victory to the PGFD by a 4-1 margin, and according to PGFD Spokesperson Mark Brady, the firefighters also enjoyed a large margin of support among public as well.

The winning fire-fighting, rib-grilling team was made up of head chef Kirk Ingram, a volunteer chief officer from the District Heights Fire/EMS Station, and career firefighters Robert Aycock, Rodney Cole and Doug Sudik, according Brady.

This is the second in what aspires to become an annual grill-off. Last year, PGPD triumphed over the fire department.

Also becoming a tradition is the social media trash talking between the two agencies prior to the big day. The agencies media departments try to psych out the competition with various taunts and ribs. Follow along on the included Storify.
