Car Fire Causes Traffic Jam on Route 50 Wednesday Morning

Firefighters believe the fire was mechanical in nature, according to a spokesperson.

A vehicle fire on westbound Route 50 before Exit 8 tied up traffic Wednesday morning.

The minivan caught fire at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. There were no injuries reported and firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, according to Mark Brady, a spokesperson for the Prince George's County Fire Department.

Firefighters believe the cause of the fire to be mechanical in nature, Brady said.
