Bowie Man Wrestles Gun from Garage Intruders

Police were unable to locate the two suspects who were wearing FedEx uniform shirts when they approached the victim in the garage of his home.

A Bowie man fought off two men—taking their gun—in the garage of his home Tuesday morning, according to the Bowie Police Department.

The victim told police that he was at his home in the 16300 block of Elkhorn Lane when two men wearing FedEx uniform shirts approached him in his garage and asked for water. One of the men showed a gun and the other man tried to close the garage door, according to the police report.

The victim was able to wrestle the gun away from the man, and both men fled. Police said the victim described the vehicle as a dark colored, late 1990s Honda with possible Maryland tags. Although police searched the area, they were unable to find the suspects. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

The suspects are described as black men of average build with dreadlocks. Police encourage residents to be aware of their surroundings and to not allow strangers to enter their homes, even if they are uniformed.

Any residents who think they see the suspects should not approach the men, and should call 911 immediately, police said.
