Employee Pleads Guilty to Wire Fraud, Identity Theft at Nonprofit

Bowie resident Penny Parker Green, 34, pleaded guilty Wednesday to federal charges of aggravated identity theft and wire fraud for stealing $166,000 from Arc of Prince George’s County and up to 72 residents while she was employed there.

Arc of Prince George’s County is a nonprofit based in Largo that provides services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families, according to their website. Services provided include day care, employment services and in-home support.

The U.S. Department of Justice said the plea agreement also states that Green had other employees withdraw cash for residents’ bank accounts for her personal uses and that she stole petty cash intended for residents for her personal use.

Green pleaded to submitting falsified paperwork to cover up for the thefts, according to the DOJ.

A sentence will be imposed on March 18, 2013. The government said Green faces up to 20 years in prison, a $250,00 fine for the wire fraud and a mandatory two year imprisonment for aggravated identity theft that can be served consecutively with any other sentence imposed.

Green also will have to pay restitution in the amount of $166,137 and forfeit electronic equipment including multiple desktop computers, laptops and an XBOX video game system.
