Bowie Woman Killed, Two Others Hospitalized after Friday Crash

One woman is dead and two others are injured, following a three-vehicle crash in Bowie Friday morning.

Prince George's County Police are investigating a three-car accident in Bowie, MD, Friday morning that lead to a woman's death, according to The Gazette.

Anastacia Rose Smith, 21, was sitting inside of a car stopped at an intersection on MD 197 at about 2:35 a.m., when it was struck from behind by another vehicle speeding in the northbound lane approaching U.S. 50, The Gazette reported. Both cars struck a third car before ending up in the southbound lanes, according to the report.

Police stated that Smith, of the 13700 block of Gulliver's Trail in Bowie, was pronounced dead around 5:21 a.m. at a local hospital, according to The Gazette. She was the passenger in a car driven by a 22-year-old woman, who was injured, according to the report. The Gazette reports that the driver of the third vehicle was treated for injuries and released from the hospital.

Cpl. Rodney Gause with the county police said a preliminary investigation showed that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, The Gazette reported. The crash is under investigation.
