Bowie Walmart Employee Stabbed in Neck by Coworker

A fight that started in the parking lot of the store escalated when one man stabbed the other in the neck, sending the victim running into the store for help.

At around noon on May 11, Bowie Police responded to the after a man was stabbed in the parking lot next to the store, according to reports from police.

Two men—both Walmart employees—got into an argument that turned physical, with one man cutting the other in the neck. The victim—a 21-year-old male—then ran into the Walmart store to try to get help, according to police. He was transported to the Prince George’s Hospital for treatment.

Lisa Sullivan of Edgewater, who arrived at the store just after the incident, said, "Everything was taped off and I saw the helicopter flying overhead and a car in front of the store. I thought it might've been a terrorist attack, I was really nervous."

She said she called her uncle who is a police officer in the area, who told her there was an assault but that it was OK for her to go in the store. "I just wanted to continue shopping for my niece," she said.

A trail of blood could be seen in the taped off area at the entrance of the store leading into the small restaurant area near the entrance.

“This was an unfortunate incident and we are, obviously, concerned for our associate who was injured. We have been in contact with the local police and will provide them any information we have that might be helpful as they try to determine exactly what took place. As there is an active investigation going on, any additional comment would be best served coming from police," said Dan Fogleman, a spokesperson for Walmart.

Bowie Police took the 26-year-old male suspect into custody and are continuing to investigate the incident.
