Bowie Police Recover Stolen Vehicle, Charge Driver

Tilithea Diane Calliham, 44, is facing multiple charges including theft and driving a rental car without proper authorization.

A Capitol Heights woman is facing several charges for driving a stolen vehicle, according to Bowie police.

Bowie police found a car that had been reported stolen in the 3900 block of Town Center Boulevard using the License Plate Recognition System (LPR). The LPR uses an electronic devices to read license plates, can be used to detect stolen or other vehicles in a database.

After confirming that the vehicle was reported stolen through communications, officers canvassed the area for the car. They found the car unoccupied at the 15700 block of Emerald Way, parked outside of Sears.

Police conducted surveillance on the vehicle until they saw a woman enter the car and drive away. The performed a traffic stop and found that the driver, Tilithea Diane Calliham, 44, did not have the proper authorization to drive the car, which was a rental vehicle.

Calliham was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including theft, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, and charges related to driving a rental car without proper insurance and authorization.
