Bowie Police Nab Armed Robbery Suspect

Robert Anthony Parnell, 20, is facing assault and robbery charges. Police said he held up two victims at gunpoint.

Bowie police arrested a local man and charged him with armed robbery Wednesday, according to a police report.

Officers said they were called to a reported armed robbery on the 4000 block of Chelmont Lane Wednesday evening. The victims told police that they were approached by a man wielding a black handgun making "verbal demands," according to the police report.

The suspect drove away with $25 of the victims' money.

Officers, who were searching the area, said they saw a vehicle that matched the victims' description of the suspect's getaway car, which they pulled over.

After securing the scene, police said they brought the victims to the area of the traffic stop where they were able to identify Bowie resident Robert Anthony Parnell, 20, as the man who robbed them at gunpoint.

Parnell was arrested on charges of armed robbery and first-degree assault. No one was injured during the incident, police said.
