Bowie Police Arrest Two Men After Foot Chase, Teen Attacked on Bike Path

A Bowie teenager was attacked and slashed with a butter knife for his bicycle on a Bowie bike path, police said.

After a foot chase through the woods, Bowie Police apprehended one of two suspects early Saturday morning who were allegedly seen tampering with vehicles in the 6300 block of Gwinnett Lane, according to a police report.

The second suspect was apprehended in the 14000 block of Gulliver’s Trail a short time later after a resident called 911 to report that someone was in her backyard, police said.

Troy Johnson, 30, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Harrison Anderson, 31, of Lanham, were both charged with theft, trespassing and resisting arrest, according to online court records.

Johnson is being held on a $5,000 bond and he is due back in court next month, according to court documents.

Anderson is free on a $3,000 bond, according to court documents. He is scheduled to appear in court in July.

A 16-year-old Bowie resident was able to fight off three males who tried to take his bike on a Mitchellville Road path, according to Bowie Police.

The three suspects approached the teenager and demanded his bike, according to police. Police said a struggle ensued and one of the suspects attempted to slash the teen with a dull butter knife.  

The victim, who sustained minor injuries during the attack, was able to recover his bike, police said

Bowie Police are investigating the incident.
