Bowie Man Sentenced for Falsifying Timesheets

Alfred Antanga, 52, falsified the time sheets of three WMATA employees, allowing them to collect more than $24,500 in unearned overtime and double time.

A Bowie man has been sentenced to nine months in jail for falsifying the timesheets of three Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) employees, allowing them to collect more than $24,500 total in unearned overtime and double time, according to a press release issued by the Maryland State’s Attorney's Office.

Alfred Antanga, 52, also faces five years supervised probation and has been ordered to pay restitution to WMATA in the amount of $9,100. The remainder of the funds were recovered from the employees with falsified timesheets after they were terminated by withholding their leave payouts, according to the press release.

“Mr. Atanga was given the responsibility of managing WMATA resources and he abused his position in an attempt to gain favor with those who benefitted from his actions,” State’s Attorney Angela Alsobrooks said in a press release.  “We are pleased that he has been held accountable for his crimes.”

In March, Atanga was convicted of aggregate theft over $10,000 but less than $100,000 and aggregate theft over $1,000 but less than $10,000.
