Bowie Man Found Dead in Buckingham Park

Police said Christopher Painter, 23, was found unresponsive in the park on July 21.

Bowie resident Christopher Painter was found dead in Buckingham Park by Bowie police the morning of July 21, according to Bowie Police Chief John Nesky.

Bowie police responded to a “check the welfare” request at approximately 8:27 a.m. and found Painter, 23, unresponsive and lying in the grass at the park, according to the police report. Emergency Medical Services also responded and confirmed that Painter was deceased.

No obvious signs of physical injury were found and Painter was identified by the state issued identification card police found on him, according to authorities. The body was transported to the state medical examiner in Baltimore where an autopsy will be performed, according to police.

The police report states that the Prince George’s County Police Department's homicide division responded to the call and will take over the death investigation, which is currently viewed as suspicious.
