Police were responding to a breaking and entering call on Antler Court South when they made the discovery.

A Bowie man is facing criminal charges after police allegedly found $6,560 worth of marijuana and a stolen 9mm handgun Wednesday night in a shed on Antler Court South.

Norman Patrick McClain, 22, is facing 12 separate charges stemming from the discovery.

According to Bowie police, officers responded to the 2700 block of Antler Court South late Wednesday when a resident reported that someone was trying to break into a neighbor’s shed.

Once on the scene, officers found that the shed was locked from the outside and appeared undisturbed. But when they noticed a strong marijuana odor coming from the shed, police asked the homeowner for permission to conduct a search.

The homeowner consented, according to the police report, and officers found 328 grams of packaged and unpackaged marijuana, materials and equipment used to packaged marijuana for street sales, and a 9mm handgun that had previously been reported stolen from Charles County.

According to police, McClain, who is the son of the homeowner, told officers that the items were his and that he was the only one that accessed the shed.

McClain was arrested and charged with six counts of possession of paraphernalia, two counts of possession, one count of possession with the intent to distribute, one count of firearm/drug trafficking, one count of drug packaging material and one count of theft under $1,000.
