Bowie Man Charged With Sex Abuse Released on Bond a Second Time

A Bowie man has been released on bond for a second time after being arrested twice and charged with multiple counts of alleged sex abuse, reported the Gazette.

after being arrested and charged by Prince George’s County police with perverted practice, sexual abuse of a minor and committing a sex offense in the forth degree for his alleged sexual assault of an 8-year-old boy. The alleged abuse took place at Brochu’s home on Cryodon Lane.

“He’s on home release," state’s attorney spokesman John Erzen told the Gazette. "He’s only allowed to go to and from work.” 

, who was rearrested when he surrendered himself to police on Aug. 8, according to the Gazette.

Brochu is charged with sex abuse of a minor, third degree sex offense and second degree assault for allegedly abusing a 10-year-old boy between April 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012, while the victim, a family friend, was visiting Brochu. 

Brochu also is being charged with sex abuse of a minor and third degree sex offense for allegedly abusing a 6-year-old family member at a pool in Bowie, according to police. 

Erzen told the Gazette that Brochu was unable to meet the initial bond of $200,000 from his rearrest, but a judge lowered the bond to about $25,000 as the suspect was determined to have little flight risk.

Brochu faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of all charges and he will stand for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 31. The case remains under investigation by police.
