The driver, 28-year-old Gerald Lawrence Carroll, tried to get out of his car. Officers ordered him to stay in his car and he then began reaching for something between the seat and the center console.

The officer asked Carroll to stop rummaging around his car before eventually ordering him to stop at gun point and Carroll complied. Police searched between the seats and found an 18-inch brass pipe and a prescription bottle for Oxycodone that was not prescribed to Carroll.

Carroll was then taken into custody as officers continued to search the car, discovering several plastic baggies with a white powder substance which was field tested and confirmed to be cocaine.

After the drugs were found, the Prince George’s County Police K-9 unit was called in for a more thorough search and they discovered more drugs in the back seat of the car.

Police found Carroll to be in possession of the brass pipe, 11 grams of marijuana, 5.5 grams of cocaine, 149 Oxycodone pills and one ecstasy pill, totaling an estimated $5,260 street value.

He was taken to the Department of Corrections in Upper Marlboro and charged with several counts of possession, eluding police, speeding and intent to distribute.

This isn’t Carroll’s first run-in with drugs and police, according to court documents. Dating back to 2001, he has been charged with possession several times as well as assault and possession of illegal firearms among other things.
