Bowie Fire Injures Two Firefighters, Destroys Home
An early morning fire displaces a family who was able to get out safely.
A local family is displaced and two Prince George’s County firefighters were injured this morning after a fire destroyed a Bowie house. The residents of the home were able to get out safely.
Firefighters responded to the house fire shortly before 2:30 a.m. Monday in the 3600 block Mabank Lane in Bowie.
When they arrived on the scene, firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from the first floor with fire extending to the top floor of the two-story dwelling.

As firefighters entered the house to make an attack on the fire, a volunteer firefighter from the Glen Dale Volunteer Fire Department suffered burns to his body. He was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
It took firefighters about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control, a second firefighter was also injured and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s believed the fire started on the first floor and extended to the second floor of the house, but the cause of the fire is under investigation.
