The Baltimore County Police Department reported Friday evening that Caitlyn and Timothy Virts have been located in a motel in Florence, SC.

Timothy Virts, 38, is in police custody and his daughter, Caitlyn Virts, appears to be unharmed, police said.

Police issued an Amber Alert after the 11-year-old Dundalk girl was reported missing Thursday morning, when her mother was found dead in their home, according to police.

Timothy Virts, who is girl's father, has since been charged with first-degree murder related to the death of her mother, Bobbie Jo Cortez, 36, of Dundalk, police said.

The father must go through an extradition process before returning to Maryland, police said.

Caitlyn Virts will be brought home as soon as possible, according to police, who said that officials from Baltimore County's Department of Social Services have been put in contact with their counterparts in South Carolina.

"Detectives will be traveling to South Carolina as soon as possible to continue the investigation," police said Friday night.

At a press conference Friday afternoon, Baltimore County police reported that the FBI and U.S. Marshals were assisting in the search, which had gone national.

"Investigators believe that the two being located is a direct result of the expanded Amber Alert" that went out Friday afternoon, Baltimore County police said Friday night.

"The Baltimore County Police Department wishes to thank everyone who kept a lookout for Caitlyn, helped spread information about her, and provided the police with tips," police said.

Many thanks to the police of Baltimore County, Florence, S.C, and the person I understand saw Caitlyn and reported the sighting. Now put Timothy away for the rest of his life, since we can no longer get rid of him permanently.

So happy to hear Caitlyn is safe! She must be traumatized, esp. if she saw her mom killed by her dad.

This is a case of justified homicide. The mother's new husband raped this 11-year old kid. He's in the pen on minor sexual abuse charges right now. I probably would have done the same thing. Why would the mother let her didler husband do this to this girl?

Scott, did the new husband rape the kid when the mother was there or not there? Did the mom know it took place and reported it or not reported it? Clarify what you are saying...did the kid tell her real dad what happened and that mommy knew about it and did nothing..Please be Clear when say something
