10-Year-Old Witnesses Bowie Burglary, Police Say

The child was home alone at the time of the robbery, according to police.

Bowie police say a 10-year-old child witnessed two teenage boys breaking into his home on Quoting Poet Court and stealing two bags of shoes.

Police responded to a call at the home on Friday evening where the mother of the child stated that when she got home, her 10-year-old told her "something bad happened."

The child reportedly told its mother that two teenagers broke into the home by cutting a screen and entering through a back window. The child came upon two thieves who asked where the bedroom of the child's sibling—a 14-year-old who was not home at the time—was located. The thieves were wearing ski masks, according to the report.

The victim showed the boys to the room where they proceeded to fill two plastic bags with shoes, and then fled through the back window, according to police.

The victim, who was home alone when the break-in occurred, told police that he was too afraid to call his parents or police at the time of the burglary, even after the thieves left the home.

This incident is being actively investigated by police, according to Bowie Police Chief John Nesky.
