Have you ever gotten information from a friend via social media and said to yourself, "It would be nice to give them a congratulatory hug"? Or maybe you were on the opposite end and thought, "I can't believe they did not pick up the phone to tell me this news". What's missing? Before I go any further, let me just say that I think the age of electronics is great, but automation does have its place. I think in an age when so many people are hurting and some are hurting so badly that they can't even articulate the degree of hurt they are going through that we still need The Human Touch. Even though my children are 14 hours away at college, I still give them The Human Touch. Yes, we text and send email but every now and then, I will say, "Please give me a call; I need to hear your voice". The Human Touch.
As I mentioned earlier, some people are hurting really bad. This hurt can lead to loneliness and sometimes even depression. Now when you see someone "going through" give them The Human Touch by calling them or spending some quality time with them. Your presence will make a big difference even if you don't know what to say or do. Sometimes you just have to show up with The Human Touch.
Let's take a look at the paralytic's friends in Mark 2:3-4, "Then they came to Him, bringing a paralytic who was carried by four men. And when they could not come near Him because of the crowd, they uncovered the roof where He was. So when they had broken through, they let down the bed on which the paralytic was lying." Wow, that is so powerful - friends who cared enough to take a sick friend to get healed. You may not have friends who are physically injured; instead they may be spiritually or emotionally injured. Give them The Human Touch.
Now that's a word!
