Believe it or not or whether we want to admit it or not, we sometimes rely too much on ourselves. You know, the education, experience, who we know, who knows us, our so-called friends or what we think they can do for us. All this dependency on man and not enough on Jesus can leave a big Ouch over and over again. Hmm... I just got straight to the point didn't I (smile).
Psalm 107:6 tells us, "Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He delivered them out of their distresses." Wow, you mean all I have to do is cry out to the Lord and He will deliver me? What a simple solution. Soooo, why don't most of us do this first instead of last? My answer is simply ... growth. I think most of us (that's you and me) grew up with the saying, "seeing is believing". But, as we grow closer to God, we begin to believe before we see. We begin to trust God to keep His promises; we begin to know that God's timing is not our timing. Most of all, we allow His joy to be the center of our lives. Friends, things, people, possessions will all come and go. But God will Never leave us. When you feel all alone just begin to say, "Jesus". When you feel distressed, confused or "just in a mood" guess what? God Hears You and He will deliver you. Whatever your distress may be don't forget to cry out to God. Believe me when I tell you that He Hears You. Whenever I totally surrender to God, I get a sense of calmness that can only come from Him: fresh ideas, doors opening, and a gladness to be amongst the "lowly" are just a few of the blessings that flow my way. God Hears You, but do you hear Him?
