Christmas Day is still 70 days away, but you'd never know it by looking at the seasonal shelves in Bowie's big box retailers.
While looking at Halloween decorations with my littlest one, he became confused when confronted with a large, white, glowing lawn ornament.
"Mom, is that a ghost?" my three-and-a-half year old queried, sounding completely baffled.
It was not a ghost. It was a snowman, although given we were otherwise surrounded by Halloween decorations, his confusion was understandable.
I went on a little tour of Bowie's discount stores last week and found, right along side the pumpkins and Halloween candy - Christmas trees, candy cane lights, life-sized electric penguins and giant, inflatable snow globes.
Thanksgiving is 37 days away and there was nary a turkey or cornucopia in sight.
Here's a gallery of some of the "seasonal" decorations I spied in Bowie stores last week. If these photos are any indicators, I expect the neighbors will have their Christmas lights up before you can say "Trick-or-treat."
