Community Corner

May2nd FREE WORKSHOP FOR FAMILY CAREGIVERS OF SENIORS

Family Restoration and Healing Center (FRHC) understands that caring for an aging loved one is difficult and wants to help you navigate the journey!  FRHC has received a grant from the City of Bowie Community Outreach Committee to provide four caregiver training workshops to the citizens of Bowie!

Our final workshop, “It’s a Family Affair:  Family and Community Working Together”, will convene on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Christ Community Church, 1925 Mitchellville Rd, Bowie, MD  20716, from 6pm-10pm.  This vital workshop is for family caregivers, seniors, and those who are called upon to serve them during an emergency.  Beginning at 6:00pm., participants will discuss the emotional, financial, legal and housing challenges faced by seniors and their family caregivers and receive tips and tools for managing behavioral episodes and emergencies due to Alzheimer’s and Dementia.  Representatives from the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office, Office of the Fire Chief, and City of Bowie Police Department will join the team of experts to discuss managing seniors in an emergency.  Estimated 44 million Americans age 18 and older provide unpaid care to older people. Most are ill-prepared.

Space is limited, priority registration will be given to Bowie residents. All are welcome.  For more information, or to register for this workshop, visit www.360wholeness.org or call 240-667-1849.
