LETTER: 'Heros for the Homeland' Seeks Supplies for Sandy Relief

This Bowie-based nonprofit is soliciting donations for Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts in New York and New Jersey.

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing on behalf of Heroes for the Homeland to request your support in assisting those in New York and New Jersey who have been hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. We plan to deploy distribute supplies this coming Friday morning. We are looking for donations of cleanup supplies (chainsaws, hand tools, leaf blowers, power tools, plywood, tarps, trash bags, wheel barrows, yard tools, etc.), survival supplies (blankets, nonperishable foods, water, batteries, flashlights, etc.) and/or gift cards that we will distribute to the police department and their surrounding community. We will be accepting these donations starting tomorrow afternoon, Tuesday November 6 at the FOP 89 lodge 2905 Old Largo Road, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772. Please contact us if you would prefer to arrange for us to pick up your donation. We will also accept monetary donations which will be used to cover operating costs and additional supplies for distribution. These can be made by check or cash in person, or credit card on our website.

Heroes for the Homeland is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded locally and made up of law enforcement and emergency services personnel who wish to aid american communities devastated by natural and man-made disasters. Being composed of experienced law enforcement, firefighting and emergency medical personnel makes Heroes for the Homeland uniquely suited for accomplishing this mission safely and effectively as well as augmenting existing emergency services that are already strained by the disaster.

Your donation will help make it possible for us to respond to the communities that need us and achieve our goals of (1) helping to get emergency services accessible and up-and-running, (2) ensuring that the families and homes of first responders in those communities are safe, enabling the emergency workers to focus on helping the surrounding community without worry, and (3) assisting in the cleanup of the surrounding communities.
