Barbara Swain Lancaster, 86

Barbara Swain Lancaster, 86, of 1597 State Line Road, Waynesboro, PA, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born Sunday, April 6, 1924, in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of the late H. Wainwright Swain and Dorothy Quimby Swain. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Franklin J. Lancaster; daughter, Nanette L. Lash; sister, Nancy S. Paschall; and brother, Howard Swain.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother.

She is survived by her four daughters, Sharon L. Walker and husband, Steven, of Hagerstown, Md., Joan L. Salvagno of Hagerstown, Elizabeth M. Lancaster of Odenton, Md., and Cecilia L. Fatzinger and husband, Rob, of Bowie, Md.; and her four sons, W. Steven Lancaster of Greencastle, Pa., Michael J. Lancaster and wife, Aggie, of Fairfax, Va., Thomas F. Lancaster and wife, Melissa, of Waynesboro, and Peter Lancaster and wife, Courtney, of Greencastle; a brother, Alan R. Swain and wife, Susan, of Orange Park, Fla.; 33 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 224 W. Washington St., Hagerstown, with Father Colin Poston as celebrant.

Family will receive friends at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17.

Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bowie, Md., Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, at 1 p.m.
