Q&A: Bowie Home Improvement Contractor Danny Peterson

Patch caught up with Danny Peterson, owner of Integrity Home Improvement, as he was going from a webinar to daily business appointments. We asked him five questions.

Bowie Patch: How long have you lived in Bowie?
Nine years.

Bowie Patch: What do you like most about Bowie?
I like the spirit of community that is here. Bowie also has a great mix of different kinds of people. The neighborhoods are safe. It’s convenient. Many of the things that you need for life are here, from restaurants to movies to the cleaners.

Bowie Patch: What do you dislike about Bowie?
I dislike paying Prince George’s County taxes. They are just too high. The taxes in Anne Arundel County, where we moved from, seem lower than Prince George’s. Here they just keep going up and up.

Bowie Patch: How do you balance family and work?
By getting up a whole lot earlier than everyone else! I get up at 3:35 a.m., and believe me, that extra five minutes makes a difference. Getting up early gives me time to say my devotions and prayers and to start working while everyone else is still asleep. I have many, many conversations with my wife. I make sure I get to the kids’ events. Your kids are only young once, so you have to take advantage of that. If you spend all your time working and don’t see your kids, you will have lost the chance to see them grow up.

Bowie Patch: What should one look for in a home improvement contractor?
Look at their warranties. See if their warranties last a long time. Make sure the scope of the work they are offering meets your needs. The price has to be fair. If they offer you a “deep discount” to try to get you to do it today, walk away from those shenanigans!
