Day-After Valentine's Event Helps Heart Health

A Zumba celebration at the South Bowie Community Center will have a love theme on Wednesday, the day after the holiday.

Are you still wearing red and not quite ready to let go of Valentine's Day? Maybe you ate too many chocolates and are feeling a tad guilty?

Do something that's good for your heart by attending the at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the   (SBCC).

Debi Bevins, CEO and founder of Bling It On Fitness, teaches Zumba classes at the SBCC and opted for a day-after Valentine's Day theme for the event.

"We hold special features during our regularly-scheduled classes to encourage participants from the community area to attend as a way of bringing awareness to health and fitness," Bevins wrote in an email to Patch. "This month we are bringing awareness to Women's Heart Health Month in our SBCC classes."

The one-hour event will feature special guest instructors and Bevins will also give out prizes to "encourage our regular members to bring a friend as a way to give the gift of health."

Bevin tries to host a fun theme for the classes once a month. She's encouraging participants to wear red, pink and black—plus a "touch of bling."
