Most of us have heard the saying, "The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste". I wanted to introduce you to, "The Tongue - It's a Terrible Thing to Waste". Curious as to why I would choose to say such a thing? Well, I am participating in a 30 Day F.A.S.T. (Focus, Abstain, Surrender, Trust) centered on Taming the Tongue. Each day we have a scripture that helps us think about how we use our tongue. Below are just a few ways we are taming our tongue as we get closer to God:

If you are like me, you have said some things that were harmful and maybe even damaging to other people. Not good! We don't always know who we've damaged so we must remember to ask God for the sins that we are aware of all well as those that we don't even know we have committed. Don't beat yourself up; God can still use you. Just look what He did with Saul. In Acts 8:3, we see where Saul was persecuting Christians: "As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing them to prison." Watch what happens on the Damascus Road. "Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest." - Acts 9:1 Come on Saul, give the Christians a break. He finally is in a position where his tongue is no longer a threat to Christians. Acts 9:4 tells us, "Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” Has God ever asked you why you are persecuting Him with your tongue? Have you ever stopped to hear what your tongue is actually saying? Is your tongue uplifting or tearing down someone? The Tongue - What a Terrible Thing to Waste.
