Huh, what? Hmm ... what is a Nehemiah experience? Nehemiah is one of the greatest leaders of all times (ok, this is just my opinion). Nehemiah was:
1. Humble: as he was praying to God, Nehemiah 1:6 tells us that he said, "please let Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray before you now, day and night, for the children of Israel Your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we have against You. Both my father's house and I have sinned."
2. Compassionate: he asked questions Nehemiah 1:2), listened (Nehemiah 1:3), Wept (Nehemiah 1:4), and fasted and prayed (Nehemiah 1:4).
So what does all of that have to do with being a good leader? Well, when we humble ourselves before God and are compassionate over and with the people He has put in our path, I strongly believe that He hears and answers our prayers in due time. You see, Nehemiah was on an assignment to rebuild the Wall of Jerusalem. He allowed God to order his steps along the way.
