Bowie Fire Station 39 Gets a Facelift

Employees from the Anne Arundel County based Mr. Handyman gave time on Tuesday to rehab one local fire station as part of the company's National Day of Service.

Bowie volunteer fire station 39 on Annapolis Road got a facelift Tuesday courtesy of Mr. Handyman.

The local business, which provides handyman services in Anne Arundel County and Bowie, slapped on a new coat of paint and did some wall repairs at the station as part of the company's National Day of Service.

Kevin Crysler, who runs the local Mr. Handyman, thought a fire station was a fitting volunteer location since the National Day of Service is intended to commemorate emergency service workers who lost their lives on September 11.

"It's our way if giving back to those that protect us every day," Crysler said.

Fire stations make good partners, Crysler said, because there is a need there.

All six of Crysler's employees volunteered on Tuesday for about eight hours, taping, painting and repairing minor wall damage.
