Holiday Bazaar at Kenilworth Elementary School

Holiday Bazaar Newsletter

The Kenilworth Elementary School PTA is very excited to be
bringing the Holiday Bazaar back to our school on Saturday, Dec. 7th from noon-4pm, and we hope that you
will be able to come and enjoy the festivities!
So far, we have more than 20 local crafters and vendors, the “Penguin
Patch” (like a Secret Santa shop), poinsettia & wreath sales, free “Reindeer
Games”, a craft room for the kids, a Build-A-Bear Raffle, cookie decorating,
candy grams, letter writing to troops, sweets & snacks, music, story and
movie time in the library, and more.

Holiday décor will be provided by the students of
KES.  Classes will have a "Door Decorating Contest" that
will be adjudicated by celebrity judge, Mayor Robinson.  Students in
the winning classroom will each get one free entry into the Build-A-Bear
Raffle! Students will also be hand cutting their own snowflake which will
display their name and a winter wish.

The cafeteria will be filled with 24 vendors who will
each have an 8ft table.  Vendors will offer a wide variety of
items from handmade crafts & jewelry to homemade confections.
Hot food will be available. The 5th grade will be selling sweets, snacks,
and drinks as well as selling "Candy Grams"- cards with a candy cane
that will be delivered to a KES student - this will benefit special 5th grade
activities such as their spring camping trip.  On display in the cafeteria
will be two "Wish Trees" full of ornaments filled out by the staff
and teachers:  guests can take an ornament and fulfill the wish.

The "Reindeer Games" hallway will be filled
with five free games for the kids as well as story time and movie time in the
library.  Another hallway, "Snowman Lane" will include free
letter/picture writing to our deployed Active Duty Troops, the Penguin Patch -
a secret holiday shop where kids can purchase inexpensive gifts and place them
in a secret bag, and ticketed activities:  All tickets are $1 and can
be used in the "Kids Craft Corner" - a room with five fun crafts for
the kids to make themselves or at the Cookie Decorating Table where kids can
decorate their own special cookie.  Two always popular "Build-A-Bears"
will be raffled off at the event-an entry costs one ticket.

Students will be pre-selling beautiful poinsettias for
$10 and fresh 16" fraser fir wreaths for $20 from Patuxent
Nursery.  Pick-up is during the Bazaar.  A limited amount of these
high quality items will be on sale at the Bazaar, so please pre-order with a
KES student or email clbflute@yahoo.com  to order.

This will be a fun community event for children and
adults.  We hope to see you there!
