Charis Children's Youth Chorus

Do you know someone between the ages of 6 and 18 who LOVES to sing? Sign him or her up for the Charis Center Children’s Chorus! This program provides opportunities for students to develop their musical potential and aesthetic understanding through singing in a choral ensemble. Study includes the care and cultivation of a beautiful tone, aesthetic awareness, the ability to read music, the building of technical skills, team spirit, and responsible rehearsal habits. Students will have opportunities to experience the spontaneity of improvisation and the creative process of composition. Students will strengthen listening skills and their ability to analyze and evaluate music and music performances. Attention will also be given to relating their music experiences to personal development. No prerequisite course is required.

The Chairs Center Children’s Chorus will have two levels of singing—Level A is designed for the more experienced singer, and Level B is designed for the beginning singer.  Both groups will meet one day per week for rehearsal and training, and will have multiple performances opportunities throughout the year.  Rehearsals will begin January 11 and will  end by May 31.  This program is open to ALL school age children between the ages of 6 years and 18 years and who reside in Prince George’s County, MD.  Tuition is $100 for the complete program. Limited financial aid is available to families who qualify. For more information please contact the Charis Center for the Arts via phone (301 262 1183) or email (admin@chariscenterarts.com).
