Attorney General Doug Gansler, who is running for the Democratic nomination for governor, is set to announce his choice for a lieutenant governor candidate.

The Washington Post reports Jolene Ivey (D-Prince George’s County) will run with Gansler, and the announcement is set to take place on Monday morning at High Point High School in Beltsville.

Last month it was reported that Ivey was one of three elected officials on Gansler’s short list. The other two were Baltimore City Comptroller Joan Pratt and Del. Keiffer J. Mitchell Jr. (D-Baltimore City).

Pratt, at the time, said she had conversations with Gansler’s campaign about running for lieutenant governor. Mitchell wouldn’t confirm whether he was being considered for the slot.

"It’s not up to me," Mitchell said in September.

There are two other candidates who are also running for the Democratic gubernatorial nomination in 2014.

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown has already announced Howard County Executive Ken Ulman as his running mate, and Del. Heather Mizeur (D-Montgomery County) has not yet announced a lieutenant governor candidate.
