Bowie Election Results: Robinson, Gardner Win Re-election Soundly

Residents also voted to increase council terms from two years to four years.

Update: 10:20 p.m.: Incumbent Mayor G. Frederick Robinson and incumbent District 3 Council member Henri Gardner were both re-elected by large margins in Bowie voting Tuesday.

All other incumbents were also re-elected. 

"I'm tickled with the confidence and tickled that people like the direction we are going in," Robinson said.

Gardner said he was relieve that the election was over and that he had been re-elected.

"I thank God to be back and I'm very, very happy," Gardner said.

The votes for the contested races are as follows:

G. Fred Robinson (incumbent): 3,979
Richard Dahms (challenger): 666

Henri Gardner (incumbent): 
792
Babatunde Alegbeleye (challenger): 266

Residents also voted to increase council terms from two years to four years. 

Update, 9:50 p.m.: 
According to city officials, there was some sort of issue with the Kenhill Center (2A) votes. It's not clear what the problem was, or when it will be resolved. Still awaiting results. 

Update, 9:20 p.m.: 
Still no results and folks are getting restless. City officials say numbers should be released in about 20 minutes.

Update, 8 p.m.: 
Polls in the Bowie 2013 municipal elections have officially closed. Patch will be awaiting election results with incumbent candidates. This story will be updated as results are made available.

Polls open at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. Before casting your ballot, be sure to check Patch's election guide, chock full of useful information, including where to vote, how to vote and candidate profiles. 

Skies will be cloudy and temperatures will be a chilly 41 degrees when polls open at 7 a.m. Voters should expect the temps to remain cool, in the mid-50s with mostly cloudy skies for most of the day, according to National Weather Service predictions
