Weather Decision on Prince George's School Closings

Did your kids put on their pajamas backwards and inside out?

With Thursday night's snowfall shaping up be the first significant accumulation of the season, parents and children across Prince George's County want to know one thing: Is school cancelled on Friday?

The decision is in—Prince George's County Public Schools and offices are closed Friday, Jan. 3, due to inclement weather.

PGCPS has declared a Code Yellow, meaning only emergency personnel are required to report for work.

Bowie State University and the University of Maryland both will open at 10 a.m. Friday.

The City of Bowie government is open and operating on a normal schedule Friday. Liberal leave is in effect for city employees. Trash and recycling will be picked up as staffing and weather conditions permit.

City operate facilities are also open, but morning lessons at the ice arena in Bowie have been cancelled. There will be no bus service or meals at the senior center on Friday, Jan. 3.

The Prince George's County government is open Friday with unscheduled liberal leave for non emergency employees.

The federal government is open Friday, but workers have been have been granted unscheduled leave or telework, according to the Office of Personnel Management website.
