Tornado Watch Elevated to Tornado Warning

Storm capable of producing tornado moving through southern Prince George's County.

Update - 8:37 p.m. - The National Weather Service has elevated its earlier tornado watch to a tornado warning. According the warning, forwarded to subscribers of the Prince George's County Notify Me alert system, the warning is in effect for Southeastern Prince George's County, Northern Charles County and Northwestern Calvert County until 9 p.m. 

"Take cover now. Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and avoid windows. If outdoors or in a mobile home or vehicle...move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris."

The warning advises of a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado near Waldorm moving northeast at 25 mph.

Original Article - The National Weather Service is warning Prince George's County residents that the conditions are prime for a tornado.

Just after 2 p.m. NWS issued a tornado watch for most of the state, including Prince George's County.

The watch is in effect until 10 p.m.

NWS issues a "watch" when the risk of a tornado has increased "significantly," but none has been sighted. 

Earlier today, NWS issued a flash flood watch, in effect until midnight.
