State Rests in Bowie State Murder Trial
The trial is expected to conclude Thursday, according to WJLA.
The state rested its case against Alexis Simpson on Wednesday after one witness claimed that the stabbing with which Simpson is charged may have been an accident, reported WJLA.
Simpson, 20, is facing first-degree murder charges after allegedly stabbing her former Bowie State University roommate Dominique Frazier, 18, to death on Sept. 15, 2011 after a fight over loud music escalated to violence.
Keaira Johnson, who witnessed the stabbing, said Johnson was the aggressor in the brutal punching and hair-pulling fight, but she also admitted to police this week that she was worried Frazier would stab Simpson, reported to WJLA.
Johnson also said Simpson’s stabbing of Frazier may have been an accident. According to WJLA, under cross examination, Johnson said:
"Dominique hit her when the girl had the knife in her hand. I think it just happened. I don't think the girl meant to cut her.”
The state rested its case on Wednesday and the trial is expected to conclude Thursday, according to WJLA.
