Snow Emergency Plan in Effect for Prince George's County

A snow emergency plan is in effect for many parts of Maryland, drivers should try to stay off the roads if possible.

At 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 22, the Maryland State Police (MSP) put into effect a snow emergency plan for Prince George's County with input from the state's highway administration.

The National Weather Service once again lowered predictions and is now reporting accumulation of 1 to 2 inches with snow and patchy drizzle continuing through dawn.

  • Prohibited parking on roads and streets designated as snow emergency routes; and
  • The use of snow tires/chains (most cars now use all weather tires, so changing to "snow" tires is unnecessary)

These requirements are in effect until the emergency plan has been lifted. The snow emergency plan is in effect for sixteen other counties across Maryland:
