She's been teaching in the system for 11 years, starting her career at Rose Valley Elementary and has taught at Baden for the past three years. She's currently teaches fifth-graders in a MEANS (Making Education Accessible in Neighborhood Schools) classroom, a program made possible through a partnership with Johns Hopkins University.

Mboma is currently pursuing a doctorate in education administration and participating in the Prince George’s County Public School’s Pre-Leadership Academy.

"Ms. Mboma’s most resounding quality is that of urgency and concern for the quality of education that her students receive,” said principal Danielle Goddard.
“She is a team player and is always open to assisting colleagues with lesson planning and team collaboration. She encourages all parents to become more active in her classroom, and works with them to so they can assist students at home. Ms. Mboma is a person that any of us can go to in a time of need.”

She will now compete with finalists from 24 other counties for the title of Maryland Teacher of the Year.
