Patch Picks: Summer Camp Options Around Bowie

Looking for a summer camp or activity for your kids? Here are a few options around Bowie.

With summer right around the corner, it might be time to start planning summer activities for your kids. Here are some options for camps in the area for this week's Patch Picks.

Bowie Baysox Youth Baseball Camp

Offering two sessions—one in July, another in August—the Bowie Baysox Youth Baseball Camp offers young players a chance to improve their skills with the Baysox coaching staff.

At $150 per session, kids get nine hours of instruction (over three days), a T-shirt and hat, autograph opportunities with the Baysox (including a pizza party) and a ticket to a Baysox game. Families of the kids can get discounted tickets so the whole family can attend. Check out full details on the Baysox site.

Holy Trinity Summer Camp

Holy Trinity Summer Camp offers thematic and specialized sessions that provide fun in a myriad of activities in a safe environment. Each week is different, so kids can pick and choose which weeks they'd like to participate, or attend for the whole summer.

Activities include sports, academics, water fun, creative arts and music. You can register online, or check the contact information to get more information.

YMCA Camp Letts in nearby Edgewater overlooks three islands and a 2,600-acre preserve that has served as the backdrop for over 100 summers of land and aquatic adventures. 

Camp Letts offers one- and two-week camps for ages 8 to 16. For the younger campers, ages 6 to 8, Camp Letts offered a three-day/two-night camp.  

Some of their activities include: archery, arts and crafts, basketball, dance, frisbee golf, lacrosse, creative writing, dance, drama, volleyball, tennis and water games.

Silver Stars Gymnastics Camp

Beginning June 13 and ending Sept. 2, parents can sign kids up for week-long sessions. Age groups are 3 1/2 to 4 years, 5 to 7 and 8 to 15. With 18,000 square feet of space Silver Stars Gymnastics gives kids a chance to learn basic gymnastics skills with monkey bars, trampolines and other activities.

Full- and half-day programs are available, as well as extended hours in the morning and evening to accommodate for parents work schedules.

Super Kids Clubhouse is located off Crain Highway close to the MD-214 exit. Super Kids is on the corner of Prince George's Boulevard and Trade Zone Avenue across from Linemark Printing. Handicapped access is only available from the main parking area. Super Kids Clubhouse offers music and religion classes, parents' activities and seasonal camps.
