Man Found Guilty in 2006 Slaying of Bowie Woman

The victim and her killer were involved in a dispute over child support at the time of the murder.

A Forrestville man has been found guilty of the 2006 slaying of Bowie resident Reina Notasha Lynch, according to a statement released by the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney.

Lynch was found dead, shot in the head and torso, in the locked guard tower of the Federal Express mailing facility where she worked in November 2006. The murder occurred shortly after Lynch initiated child support hearings against her 7-year-old daughter’s father, Fabian Andre Shim. The two had been to a mediation hearing on November 1, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

On November 12, a witness called 9-1-1 and reported the Shim, 47, confessed to the murder, and told police about a car that was found with the shotgun used to killed Lynch. Police found the car in Shim's possession.

A jury found Shim guilty of murder in the first degree, after a trial lasting nearly two weeks. His sentencing is scheduled for June 25. He faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Shim was originally tried on charges related to Lynch’s death in 2007, but had to be retried due to a legal technicality with the jury selection, according to the state’s attorney’s office. He was found guilty in his original trial as well.
