Local Group Accepting Donations for Oklahoma Tornado Victims

Heroes for the Homeland will be deploying to Moore, OK on June 2.

Bowie residents looking to donate supplies to survivors of last week's devastating tornado in Moore, OK can give locally thanks to a group of first responders dedicated to provided disaster relief to American communities. 

Heroes for the Homeland, is a local nonprofit made up of first responders from Prince George's and Anne Arundel counties. According to its Facebook page, the mission the organization's mission "to assist men, women and children in American communities affected by disaster by providing essential supplies and cleanup assistance during recovery efforts." 

This week, Heroes for the Homeland is collecting donations for its June 2 delployment to Moore, where volunteers will help residents and local first responders clean up and rebuild.

They are requesting the following items for donation: 

  • Tools, including hand tools, yard tools, generators, ropes, chains and chainsaws
  • Non perishable food items, water and sports drinks
  • Medical supplies, like bandages, antibiotic ointment, gauze, sunscreen and bug spray
  • Cleaning supplies, including bleach, trash bags, disinfectant sprays, brooms and other cleaners
  • Visa or American Express gift cards to pay for fuel

Heroes for the Homeland is NOT collecting clothing donations at this time.

Donations are being collected between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. through May 31 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m on June 1 at 1166 Rt. 3 South, Suite 107 in Gambrills (behind the Blue Dolphin restaurant). To make other donation arrangements, call 443-837-8111.
