Heat Advisory and Air Quality Alert Issued for Friday

The National Weather Service says the temperature could get up to 103 degrees today.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued both a heat advisory and an air quality alert for Prince George's County and most of the region for Friday.

The heat advisory will be in effect from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and temperatures are expected to be in the range of 98 to 103 degrees with the heat index expected to max out at 109 degrees along the I-95 corridor.

The NWS advises people to stay indoors as much as possible and limit strenuous activity to the early morning and evening hours. Staying hydrated is also extremely important during these heat spells, young children and the elderly are at the highest risk for illness.
