Wegmans Cites E. Coli Risk in Salad Recall

The store has recalled two types of salad mixes sold in the last few weeks.

Wegmans has issued a nationwide recall of two types of salad mix, citing a possible E. coli contamination.

The Rochester-based grocery chain said recall impacts the 11-ounce and 5-ounce sizes of store-brand Organic Spinach and Spring Mix. The products were sold between Oct. 14 and Nov. 1. Wegmans advises anyone who bought the products to immediately throw them away.

It is unclear how many salad mixes were sold at the new Wegmans in Gambrills, which opened on Oct. 28.

This is the second recall involving a Wegmans product this week. On Wednesday, the chain announced a recall of pumpkin rolls sold in its bakery section.

For questions about the recall, call 1-800-WEGMANS between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.

We sure hope it wasn't the salad bar's spinach and fresh mix

I'm sure glad I wasn't one of the thousands who waiting in line, pushed, bullied their way on the road and store line to let's see: return the poisoned pumpkin roll, and now the poisoned salad mix. Now Wegmans is donating a truckload of food for Sandy's victims...Like these people don't have enough problems already! I'm glad Crofton got Wegmans!

I love Wegmans, have been a customer for at least 5 years now, driving far and wide to get to one. I was so excited when I say that Crofton was getting a Wegmans, and since the opening have gone many times already! I went the opening day and that day, or any other day I've been , I was never pushed, bullied (on road or store) and honestly the check out didn't even have waits. Yes, the recall was scary and disconcerting, but unfortunately can, and does happen other places. I AM glad Crofton got Wegmans, and hope to make it a staple place to go to shop and eat. :)

I'm glad, too, and I'm also sure this type of thing happens at every food store!
