More than 40 young athletes came out to over the weekend for the Dominant Skills Football Clinic, run by Mac James, owner of Athletic Dominance Performance Training Co. and Future of Fitness Training Facility in Crofton.

Athletes between the ages 7 and 15 were taught the fundamentals of football. They worked on position-specific skills, learned basic techniques and worked their way up to more advanced drills. The kids ran routes, played seven on seven, and even raced to see whom the fastest camper was.

The camp was also highlighted by special guest speakers and coaches from Future of Fitness.

The training facility plays host to several NFL players, some of who came out to the camp. Brian Westbrook, former Philadelphia Eagle; Byron Westbrook, former Washington Redskin; Madieu Williams of the Washington Redskins; and Ryan Bartholomew of the Arizona Cardinals talked to the kids about what it takes to get to the NFL and helped them with on-the-field activities.

The kids were able to see the importance of learning and perfecting the fundamentals of football, because they got to see the players that they cheer for on Sunday doing the same thing.

The Dominant Skills Football Clinic is the first of many to be held by James. He will be hosting more clinics in the off-season, and is currently training young athletes at Future of Fitness.
