Irie Café Jamaican Grille Headed to Bowie

The Jamaican restaurant will soon satisfy Caribbean food cravings in Bowie.

Bowie residents disappointed by  the long delayed, never opened Muffin Man Café at Hilltop Plaza have reason to celebrate.

No, the original, much anticipated Caribbean-style café will not be opening in Bowie, but a Jamaican restaurant will soon be serving customers and satisfying local cravings.

Irie Café Jamaican Grill has begun renovations on the 3,370 square-foot vacant storefront once slated for Muffin Man. The space is located in Hilltop Plaza beside Chesapeake Grille & Deli.

Patch has not received word on the official opening date of the new restaurant, though renovations are clearly underway.

Irie Café serves a variety of Jamaican foods including several rotis; jerk and curry chicken, oxtail, rum cake and banana fritters.

The restaurant currently has locations in Brandywine, Silver Spring and Woodmore.
