Bowie Business Offers Lawyers on Call

Chuck MacDonald is making legal advice available to Bowie residents for less.

Having a lawyer on standby is no longer a luxury reserved for the wealthy, says Bowie resident Chuck MacDonald.

MacDonald is the Bowie representative of LegalShield, a company that provides everyday citizens with an on-call lawyer for a monthly fee. A former magazine editor who’s been living in Bowie for nearly a decade, MacDonald began working for LegalShield after being downsized repeatedly.

“Rich people have access to lawyers all the time,” said MacDonald. “This is making them accessible to all of us.”

For $26 a month, LegalShield gives subscribers 24 hour access to legal advice from actual lawyers, who are available seven days a week to answers everyday legal questions. LegalShield lawyers also will represent you in traffic court, provide up to 50 hours of tax attorney service if audited and represent clients facing civil suits.

Lawyers can charge hundreds of dollars an hour for a consultation, which may stop people form seeking legal advice, said MacDonald.

“Situations come up day-to-day where people need a lawyer but can’t afford one,” MacDonald said, who says LegalShield can save customers thousands of dollars in attorney fees.
