Bed Bath & Beyond to Relocate to Crofton

After 10 years at the Bowie Town Center, Bed Bath & Beyond will relocate to the Waugh Chapel Towne Center this fall.

Bowie shoppers looking for Egyptian cotton sheets or the latest in kitchen gadgetry are going to have to head a few miles north to get their fix starting this fall.

“We don't plan to have stores in both Crofton and Bowie as the new store location is part of our long-term plans to best serve the market,” Bed Bath & Beyond Marketing Assistant Danielle Sherman wrote in an email.

Are you disappointed to see Bed Bath & Beyond head to Crofton? Will you travel the addition miles to shop there once they move to the Waugh Chapel Town Center? Tell us in the comments.

I agree with all of the above comments (especially the one about replacing it with a quality story). And NO, my family won't be shopping at ANY of the stores in Crofton (including the Wegmans). We will keep our money in Prince Georges County instead.

I live in Upper Marlboro and will not shop in Crofton. I will keep my money in Upper Marlboro. I hope Bowie Town Center replace this space with Linen and Things I like them better anyway,

First Petco, now BBB...and there will probably be more. Would I follow them to Crofton...no, as they're way overpriced and I rarely shopped there. The same goes for Petco...also overpriced and poor customer service the few times I visited. I'll keep my $$$ in PG county and support OUR merchants, thank you very much.

Everyone that is writing negative comments must not understand why the big company's are leaving Gorages Prince Goreges. The amount of money that they must pay for rent and taxes in PG county are Ludicrous. You can thank our previous criminal county Excutive Jack Johnson for running good quality reputable businesses out of the county. It's simple business stragaties. They will pay less to operate in AA county and that I. Return will be passed on to the consumer.

You're delusional if you think they'll pass on savings to the customer. If anything, when they relocate to Crofton, they'll raise prices, period. It will be the same staff, the same merchandize, relatively similar store layout, but you'll be paying a premium to shop in Crofton, because people assume Crofton is better because it's AA county, when in fact it will be the exact same clerks and salespeople. The Bubbles salon is moving to Crofton as well, and the hairdresser I talked to said that all of the staff will be moved there (so, again, same staff, same merchandize). It's ridiculous. I refuse to shop at any of those stores. Bowie has given them business for years, and the first sign of a new glitzy shopping center in AA county and they jump ship. I hope they fail at the new shopping center, and frankly, some of them will because the shopping in Crofton is now oversaturated.
