“Since we tend to spend more waking hours working than doing anything else, our work happiness is a huge factor in our overall happiness,” Heidi Golledge, CareerBliss’ chief executive, told Forbes.

According to American Community Survey data, in the past 12 months there were about 23,080 people working in education occupations and about 12,033 in healthcare occupations in Prince George’s County, two of the unhappiest professions in the country.

However, there were also about 33,271 people in the county working in computer, engineering and science occupations, which were areas ranked highly on the happiness scale.

The CareerBliss website lists factors such as boss and co-worker relationships, work environment, growth opportunities, compensation and work-life balance as affecting job happiness.
