Mark Your Calendars for the Bowie Green Expo!

The Bowie Green Expo will take place on April 13, 2013 at the Kenhill Center and feature a variety of vendors to help you gain tools to live a sustainable lifestyle.

April is officially Earth month in Bowie! This week's post comes from John Allender, member of the Bowie Green Team and Chair of the Bowie Green Expo.

The third annual Bowie Green Expo will be held on April 13, 2013 from 1 to 4PM, rain or shine at the Kenhill Center (old City Hall), 2614 Kenhill Dr., Bowie.  This event is hosted by the Bowie Lions Club, the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce, and the City’s Green Team.

The Bowie Green Expo brings together Bowie families, non-profits, and vendors to learn why and how to live more sustainably and healthfully.

Want to reduce your carbon footprint? We have vendors who can help you use less energy (and save money) by testing your house to find the most cost effective ways to improve its energy efficiency, and electric and hybrid cars to use less fossil fuels while commuting.

Want to switch to renewable energy? We have vendors of solar panels and renewable energy that can be purchased even if you live in an apartment.

Love watching birds and butterflies in your backyard? We have a large group of booths that can help you design your garden, and select, buy, and plant native species that are so important to attracting and sustaining birds, bees, and butterflies.

We have another great lineup this year with 8 sponsors, 38 exhibitors, 5 speakers, and great children’s activities including The Face Paint Lady, the animal ambassadors from Echoes of Nature, and farm animals from Edie’s Place Ecotherapeutic Farm.  The Bowie Green Expo is a day of discovery and delight for the whole family.

We have a special booth this year featuring the wonderful nature photography of Dick Arnold, former Bowie City Council member. Visitors to the Bowie Green Expo making a tax-deductible contribution (checks please) to the Bowie Food Pantry will receive a free gift from Dick from a selection of framed photos, books, note cards, and refrigerator magnets. Gifts will be available while supplies last, and will be determined by amount of donation. Excess proceeds from this event will go to local charities and environmental non-profits.
