Brush off your green thumbs for the upcoming plant sale!

April is filled with exciting green events in Bowie! Next up is the Bowie-Crofton Garden Club Spring Plant Sale on 4/27!

April is filled with exciting environmentally-focused events in Bowie! The 3rd annual Bowie Green Expo on April 13th had a great turn out and showcased the many efforts by local organizations and businesses to increase our sustainability. There were also some great family activities and animals to visit (who can resist baby ducklings??) If you missed it this year, be sure to attend next year!

Right on the heels of the Expo is the Bowie-Crofton Garden Club’s 25th Annual Spring Plant Sale, which will take place on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Bowie Library from 8am to 1pm. The Bowie-Crofton Garden Club currently has 77 members and organizes various events throughout the year, including holiday parties in the fall and winter, and charitable events such as quarterly road clean-ups. The club’s president, Diana Bahr, says the club has already donated $1,000 this year to the Bowie Interfaith Food Pantry and Emergency Assistance.

The plant sale will also benefit the local community by providing funding for educational scholarships and local charities. The club will be raffling off a rain barrel donated by the Bowie Lions Club and a wheelbarrow donated by a garden club member. There will be a huge selection of plants for sale from annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, shrubs and more from area nurseries and garden club members. And if you are new to gardening or just have questions, there will be many Master Gardeners in attendance who can help you out!

Make sure to bring cash or checks, as credit cards cannot be accepted. Bowie-Crofton Garden Club meetings are held the last Tuesday of the month at 7pm in the Kenhill Center. They are free and open to the public.
