Shining Bright Like A Diamond!

Prom shoe shopping turns into a mom's make over!

I've had a very exciting past few days! It is prom time, senior count down, beach week, college commit time, Whew, I'll really be a happy mama, not to mention a broke one on June 1st! Last night I went to the mall with my daughter to buy shoes for her prom dress, I had no idea that girls don't wear heels anymore because at some point during the night their feet hurt and they take them off anyway. Okay, I went along with that, so what are we looking for I asked. A dressy flip flop or sandal was the response. Mark this down folks, the first shoe I picked up was the winner! Not to mention they had her size! On a side note here, please know, I am in the minority when it comes to women that love to shop! I was so excited that we could get in and out quickly. Did I mention that a dressy flip flop is $70.00? I told my daughter we could have bought some for a dollar and glued rhinestones on ourselves. Eye roll from her, eye roll from me! As I was paying for the dressy flip flops I realized my idea was one for the left column! Okay, I said, I'll meet you at home, no wait, I need to go to the make up department and make an appointment for the day of the prom. Okay, I'll walk with you, my car is outside of the store. We get to the make up counter and my daughter says "mom, why don't you buy a concealer", the sales lady says, she doesn't need a concealer, "mom" needs an eye brightener. It couldn't be that I had been up since the crack of dawn that my eyes were not shining stars at the make up counter, could it? Sit here I was told, let me show you the difference in bright vs not bright. I quickly in my mind saw one eye with the North star shining on it and the other in an eclipse! I sat down, my daughter then says, put some bb cream on her, great idea says the sales lady. Mind you, the bright lights in the store were so hot and the smells of the different perfumes were making me choke at this point, but bring on the bb cream! I now have eye brightener, bb cream when I was told I needed a little blush. Well, I thought I had a natural blush only to be told I had ruddiness.I was being nice now as to not add rudeness to go along with my ruddiness! My daughter then suggested I should try the cc cream. Great, the Wynans now have a make up line! Music, make up, what's next mom jeans? The very nice woman suggested a pretty color, put some on, and at this point my husband was calling my daughter asking where she was as they were meeting for dinner, she told him, she'd be right there, mom was getting made up. Why, where is she going? I guess I wasn't going to the father-daughter dinner! I now look in the mirror and actually looked great. I told the nice lady it's a wrap, I'll take it all, the bb cream, the blush and the eye brightener!I mean really, wouldn't you too if you looked like the Galaxy? Her reply to me, did not match what I thought the reply of a sales lady should be, she said REALLY?" I said yes, I'll take it all. Maybe it was her first sale I thought. I told my daughter to give her my husbands credit card and never asked how much any of it was!!!! How does one put a price on beauty? I'll tell you how! When I got home and saw that I just paid $167.00 for three, yes three products, I was not only looking good, but floored! and I was praying the credit card receipt showed a sale for thirty products, as how was I going to explain to my husband there is no price for beauty! The best part to this was, here I was looking magazine gorgeous with nowhere to go!I called my younger daughter, want to have dinner? MOM, I told you, I had alot of homework. Well, your mom is looking pretty hot right now and wants to show it off, (I could feel this eye roll over the phone) Okay, I'll go through the drive thru and I'll be home, only to wash off my new look. This was truly a case of dressed up with no where to go! Too bad I don't have an Instagram account, I would have put up "selfies" all night just to embarrass my daughter! And, now I understand why the sales lady was so excited....her commission from my sale enabled her to pay her credit card this month! I'd be lying if I said Revlon gave me the same glow, however, I will use my products sparingly, or not! Anyone want to have lunch with my new look?
